Dead Gods Tell No Tales - Coming Soon

I’m thrilled to finally share some news I’ve been sitting on for a while: my new novel, Dead Gods Tell No Tales, is on its way.

This book is born out of my fascination with ancient history and my love for noir mysteries. What happens when you take the smoke-filled atmosphere of a classic crime story and set it in the shadow of a Mesopotamian ziggurat? When conspiracies, betrayals, and murder aren’t confined to dark alleys but play out beneath the watchful eyes of gods?

That’s the world of Dead Gods Tell No Tales.

The premise: Ur, the greatest city of its time, is thrown into crisis when the sacred Lunar Calendar - a silver tablet holding the divine order of the moon god Nanna - is stolen. With only seven days until the New Moon Festival, a disillusioned scribe and an ambitious priestess must untangle a web of lies, murders, and political intrigues to recover the artifact before their city falls into ruin.

As much as possible, the book is using real names, people, customs, and locations of that period (around 2094 – c. 2046 BC).

This is a story about faith and doubt, gods and mortals, power and survival - and about how much truth we can bear when the lights go out and the shadows start whispering.

At just under 60,000 words, the book is fast-paced, sharp-edged, and deliberately steeped in the mood of noir. Think The Name of the Rose colliding with Hammett in ancient Mesopotamia.

What to expect next:

  • Release date announcement

  • Preorder details (for both ebook and paperback)

If you’ve enjoyed my earlier work, you’ll recognize the familiar mix of psychological depth, hidden truths, and human frailty - but this time with a new layer of historical grit and mythic silence.

I can’t wait to share more. In the meantime, stay tuned here on the blog (and on my social channels) for updates. And if you’re curious, drop me a comment: What do you think noir looks like in Mesopotamia?
